Recovery time frame after buttock augmentation

It is vitally important that you follow all patient care instructions provided by your surgeon. This will include information about wearing compression garments, care of your drains, taking an antibiotic if prescribed, and the level and type of activity that is safe. Your surgeon will also provide detailed instructions about the normal symptoms you will experience and any potential signs of complications. It is important to realize that the amount of time it takes for recovery varies greatly among individuals.

The first two weeks

  • The recovery period is slightly longer and more painful in the buttock area because this body region is used for physical activities such as walking, running, and even standing.
  • On the first day after surgery, you may be instructed to stay in bed with the compression garment on and to periodically move your hands and feet to maintain good circulation. You will be able to get up and walk after the second postoperative day.
  • When transported home or to your first postoperative follow-up visit, you will be instructed to lie on your stomach in the back seat of the car to avoid pressure on your buttocks. This position should also be used to maneuver and stand for the first 3 days.
  • You will also be instructed to lie on your stomach or side while sleeping and while watching TV or reading.
  • You can expect some bruising and swelling in the buttock area during recovery; this may spread up to the abdominal or thigh area. This is normal and will begin to subside after a few days or weeks.
  • Your buttocks may be sore and painful, but this usually begins to resolve after just a few days. Pain medication will be prescribed for the pain.
  • Drains will be in place for the first seven days to eliminate fluid buildup and oozing from your incisions.
  • An oral antibiotic will be prescribed to be taken as long as the drains are in place.

No sitting will be permitted for the first ten days (except for toileting). After this time you can sit with a soft pillow placed beneath your hamstrung muscles but not touching your buttock so that your buttock is in the air and there is no pressure on the newly augmented buttock.

after butt lift

Recovery:  Your surgeon will discuss how long it will be before you can retu to your normal level of activity and work. After surgery, you and your caregiver will receive detailed instructions about your postsurgical care, including information about:

  • Drains, if they have been placed
  • Normal symptoms you will experience
  • Potential signs of complications

See options for short-term recovery locations in Aftercare and Recovery (Planning Toolkit).

Immediately after your buttock augmentation  :The incisions where your surgeon inserted the cannula or the implants may drain fluids for several days. Drainage tubes are often inserted to channel this fluid away from the wound.

You will wear special tight garments to keep your buttock area compressed. Your doctor will tell you how long to wear these, usually for weeks. Some doctors provide these garments, but others will tell you where to purchase them before your surgery.

When the anesthesia wears off, you may have some pain. If the pain is extreme or long-lasting, contact your physician. You will also have some swelling after the surgery. In some cases, this swelling will remain for weeks or even months. Contact your surgeon to determine whether your pain and swelling is normal or a sign of a problem.

What can I expect on the day of my procedure?

Your buttock augmentation surgery may be performed in an accredited hospital, a free-standing ambulatory facility, or an office-based surgical suite. Most buttock augmentation procedures take at least two to three hours to complete but may take longer.

  • Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure.
  • General anesthesia is commonly used during your buttock augmentation procedure, although local anesthesia or intravenous sedation may be desirable in some instances.
  • For your safety during the surgery, various monitors will be used to check your heart, blood pressure, pulse, and the amount of oxygen circulating in your blood.
  • Your surgeon will follow the surgical plan discussed with you before surgery.
  • After your procedure is completed, you will be taken into a recovery area, where you will continue to be closely monitored. You will have drains in place. After fat transfer, you will have a compression garment over the liposuction areas and over your buttocks. After implant surgery, you will be placed in a surgical dressing that includes a support or compression garment over your buttocks.
  • You will probably be permitted to go home after a short observation period unless you and your plastic surgeon have made other plans for your immediate postoperative recovery.

How do I prepare for a buttock augmentation procedure?

What are my options?  There are two main approaches for buttock augmentation: autologous fat transfer (Brazillian butt lift) and buttock implant surgery.

Your surgeon will recommend an approach based on your aesthetic goals and body shape. Buttock implants may be chosen if you desire a more rounded appearance to your buttocks while fat grafting is an excellent way to contour and reshape your buttocks.

If you are very slender with little excess fat, then implants may be appropriate; however, if you have sagging buttocks after massive weight loss, then fat grafting or a combination of fat and implant surgery may be more effective.

Silicone injections – patient safety waing  :Silicone injections are an unsafe and unacceptable option for buttock augmentation. These injections are often offered by unlicensed individuals and should be avoided. Always consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon if you are considering a buttock augmentation procedure.

How do I prepare for a buttock augmentation procedure?   Your surgeon will provide you with preoperative instructions, answer any questions you may have, take a detailed medical history, and perform a physical exam to determine your fitness for surgery.

In advance of your procedure, your surgeon will ask you to:

  • Stop smoking at least six weeks before undergoing surgery to promote better healing.
  • Avoid taking aspirin, certain anti-inflammatory drugs, and some herbal medications that can cause increased bleeding.
  • Regardless of the type of surgery to be performed, hydration is very important before and after surgery for safe recovery.

Buttock augmentation is usually performed on an outpatient basis. Be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home after surgery and to stay with you at least the first night following surgery.

Buttock implants

Autologous fat transfer   :This procedure takes fat from one area of your body and uses it to enhance and reshape your buttocks.

  • Liposuction with suction tubes (cannulas) is used to remove fatty tissue from areas of your body with excess tissue, such as the abdomen, hips, back, or thighs.
  • The fat is then processed for fat transfer.
  • The fat is reinjected using syringes connected to cannulas.
  • Usually, three small incisions are needed for injecting the fat, but these incision sites are easily hidden by clothing.
  • The fat is grafted in layers at multiple levels, with the cannula moving back and forth to ensure that a smooth, linear deposit of fatty tissue is left to reshape and augment the buttocks area.
  • The liposuction incisions are closed with sutures.
  • Drains are inserted and a compression garment is wo following surgery.
  • Butt Lift Cost in Iran

Buttock implants  :Implants are most appropriate for treating flat or poorly defined buttocks, particularly for patients who have limited fatty tissue. They are not as effective for treating sagging buttocks that may occur after significant weight loss.

  • With this procedure, a soft, shaped silicone implant is placed through an incision hidden inside the natural buttock crease, or an alteate incision site may be used. Your plastic surgeon will provide further details about these incision locations during the consultation.
  • The implant is positioned in a pocket below the large buttock (gluteal) muscle and above the pelvic bone.
  • The incisions are closed with sutures, drains are inserted, and a compression garment is wo following surgery.

What Is a Buttocks Lift?

Butt Augmentation is a surgical procedure involving lifting of the butt combined with placing a semi-solid implant to enhance the size and shape of the buttock.

The lifting of the butt can also be achieved by lipo-transfer which involves an injection of fatty tissue harvested from elsewhere in the body – abdomen, thigh, flanks, etc. In case of using an implant, the implant is surgically placed beneath the fascia and above the gluteal muscles to augment the size and shape of the buttock. In some cases, the implant can also be placed beneath the gluteus maximus muscle.

The corrective procedures for buttock augmentation and buttock repair include the surgical replacement of a gluteal implant(buttock prosthesis); liposculpture (fat transfer and liposuction ); and body contouring(surgery and liposculpture) to resolve the patient’s particular defect or deformity of the gluteal region.

When to Consider Buttock Augmentation

  • If your buttocks are too small for your body frame and you want a more balanced look
  • If your buttock shape is too flat or square and you would like more curves and a more youthful appearance
  • If weight loss or the aging process has left your buttocks loose, sagging, or flat
  • If clothes and swimwear do not fit properly on your figure

How is a buttock augmentation procedure performed?

The two most popular methods for buttock augmentation are autologous fat transfer (using your own natural fatty tissue), also called the Brazilian butt lift and gluteal implant surgery with or without fat transfer for additional contouring.

What do you expect from a heart doctor?

Preparing for your appointment  :Some types of heart disease will be discovered without an appointment — for example, if a child is bo with a serious heart defect, it will be detected soon after birth. In other cases, your heart disease may be diagnosed in an emergency situation, such as a heart attack.

If you think you have heart disease or are worried about your heart disease risk because of your family history, see your family doctor. You may be referred to a heart specialist (cardiologist).

What to expect from your doctor

Your doctor is likely to ask you questions, such as:

  • When did your symptoms begin?
  • Have your symptoms been continuous or occasional?
  • How severe are your symptoms?
  • What, if anything, seems to improve your symptoms?
  • What, if anything, appears to worsen your symptoms?
  • Do you have a family history of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or other serious illness?

What you can do in the meantime  :It’s never too early to make healthy lifestyle changes, such as quitting smoking, eating healthy foods and becoming more physically active. These are primary lines of defense against heart disease and its complications.

Lifestyle and home remedies

Lifestyle and home remedies: Heart disease can be improved — or even prevented — by making certain lifestyle changes. The following changes can help anyone who wants to improve heart health:

  • Stop smoking.
  • Control your blood pressure.
  • Check your cholesterol.
  • Keep diabetes under control.
  • Move and

With your doctor’s OK, aim for 30 to 60 minutes of physical activity most days of the week.

  • Eat healthy foods.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Manage stress.
  • Deal with depression.
  • Practice good hygiene.

Also, get regular medical checkups. Early detection and treatment can set the stage for a lifetime of better heart health.

Coping and support: You may feel frustrated, upset or overwhelmed upon leaing you or your loved one has heart disease. Fortunately, there are ways to help cope with heart disease or improve your condition. These include:

  • Cardiac rehabilitation. For people who have cardiovascular disease that’s caused a heart attack or has required surgery to correct, cardiac rehabilitation is often recommended as a way to improve treatment and speed recovery. Cardiac rehabilitation involves levels of monitored exercise, nutritional counseling, emotional support, and support and education about lifestyle changes to reduce your risk of heart problems.
  • Support groups. Tuing to friends and family for support is essential, but if you need more help, talk to your doctor about joining a support group. You may find that talking about your conces with others with similar difficulties can help.
  • Continued medical checkups. If you have a recurring or chronic heart condition, regularly check in with your doctor to make sure you’re properly managing your heart condition.

Treatment of heart disease

Treatment  :Heart disease treatments vary by condition. For instance, if you have a heart infection, you’ll likely be given antibiotics. In general, treatment for heart disease usually includes:

  • Lifestyle changes. These include eating a low-fat and low-sodium diet, getting at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise on most days of the week, quitting smoking, and limiting alcohol intake.
  • Medications. If lifestyle changes alone aren’t enough, your doctor may prescribe medications to control your heart disease. The type of medication will depend on the type of heart disease.
  • Medical procedures or surgery. If medications aren’t enough, it’s possible your doctor will recommend specific procedures or surgery. The type of procedure will depend on the type of heart disease and the extent of the damage to your heart.

Common treatments:

Here are some common treatments for different types of cardiovascular disease:

Heart Valve Problems

  • Medications
  • Heart valve surgery

Arrhythmia

  • Medications
  • Pacemaker

Heart Attack

Medications — clot-busters (should be administered as soon as possible for certain types of heart attacks)

  • Coronary angioplasty
  • Coronary artery bypass graft surgery

Stroke

  • Medications – clot-busters (must be administered within three hours from onset of stroke symptoms for certain types of strokes)
  • Carotid endarterectomy

Methods of diagnosis

The tests you’ll need to diagnose your heart disease depend on what condition your doctor thinks you might have. No matter what type of heart disease you have, your doctor will likely perform a physical exam and ask about your personal and family medical history before doing any tests. Besides blood tests and a chest X-ray, tests to diagnose heart disease can include:

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG). An ECG records these electrical signals and can help your doctor detect irregularities in your heart’s rhythm and structure. You may have an ECG while you’re at rest or while exercising (stress electrocardiogram).
  • Holter monitoring: A Holter monitor is a portable device you wear to record a continuous ECG, usually for 24 to 72 hours. Holter monitoring is used to detect heart rhythm irregularities that aren’t found during a regular ECG exam.
  • Echocardiogram: This noninvasive exam, which includes an ultrasound of your chest, shows detailed images of your heart’s structure and function.
  • Stress test: This type of test involves raising your heart rate with exercise or medicine while performing heart tests and imaging to check how your heart responds.
  • Cardiac catheterization: In this test, a short tube (sheath) is inserted into a vein or artery in your leg (groin) or arm. A hollow, flexible and longer tube (guide catheter) is then inserted into the sheath. Aided by X-ray images on a monitor, your doctor threads the guide catheter through that artery until it reaches your heart.
  • The pressures in your heart chambers can be measured, and dye can be injected. The dye can be seen on an X-ray, which helps your doctor see the blood flow through your heart, blood vessels, and valves to check for abnormalities.
  • Cardiac computerized tomography (CT) scan: This test is often used to check for heart problems. In a cardiac CT scan, you lie on a table inside a doughnut-shaped machine. An X-ray tube inside the machine rotates around your body and collects images of your heart and chest.

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI): For this test, you lie on a table inside a long tube-like machine that produces a magnetic

What are the cardiovascular diseases?

Arrhythmia: Arrhythmia refers to abnormal heart rhythm. There are various types of arrhythmias. The heart can beat too slow, too fast or irregularly. Bradycardia, or a heart rate that’s too slow, is when the heart rate is less than 60 beats per minute. Tachycardia, or a heart rate that’s too fast, refers to a heart rate of more than 100 beats per minute.

An arrhythmia can affect how well your heart works. With an irregular heartbeat, your heart may not be able to pump enough blood to meet your body’s needs.Heart surgery in Iran

Heart valve problems: When heart valves don’t open enough to allow the blood to flow through as it should, a condition called stenosis results. When the heart valves don’t close properly and thus allow blood to leak through, it’s called regurgitation. If the valve leaflets bulge or prolapse back into the upper chamber, it’s a condition called prolapse. Discover more about the roles your heart valves play in healthy circulation.

What Is Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)?

Many people hear the term “acute coronary syndrome” related to heart attack. But just what is it? Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a life-threatening form of coronary heart disease (CHD) that occurs when the heart muscle does not receive enough oxygen-rich blood. ACS includes myocardial infarction (MI), also known as a heart attack, and unstable angina, or sudden, severe chest pain that typically occurs when a person is at rest.

Every year, ACS affects an estimated 1.4 million people in the United States and another 1.4 million people in Europe. Even though patients receive intense ACS management while in the hospital, new treatments are needed to reduce the risk of acute heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death. ACS patients receive anticoagulant drugs but this treatment is limited to the hospital.Heart surgery in Iran

Heart disease treatment

Cardiovascular disease can refer to a number of conditions:

Heart disease

Heart and blood vessel disease (also called heart disease) includes numerous problems, many of which are related to a process called atherosclerosis.

Atherosclerosis is a condition that develops when a substance called plaque builds up in the walls of the arteries. This buildup narrows the arteries, making it harder for blood to flow through. If a blood clot forms, it can block the blood flow. This can cause a heart attack or stroke.Heart surgery in Iran

Heart attack

A heart attack occurs when the blood flow to a part of the heart is blocked by a blood clot. If this clot cuts off the blood flow completely, the part of the heart muscle supplied by that artery begins to die.

Most people survive their first heart attack and retu to their normal lives, enjoying many more years of productive activity. But experiencing a heart attack does mean that you need to make some changes.

The medications and lifestyle changes that your doctor recommends may vary according to how badly your heart was damaged, and to what degree of heart disease caused the heart attack.Heart surgery in Iran

Heart failure

Heart failure, sometimes called congestive heart failure, means the heart isn’t pumping blood as well as it should. Heart failure does not mean that the heart stops beating — that’s a common misperception. Instead, the heart keeps working, but the body’s need for blood and oxygen isn’t being met.
Heart failure can get worse if left untreated. If your loved one has heart failure, it’s very important to follow the doctor’s orders.

Cosmetic plastic surgery in Iran

Chemical peel: Chemical peels may help treat acne, pock marks, scars, or wrinkles. A number of active agents may be used.

A light or superficial peel uses Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) such as glycolic, lactic, or fruit acids to treat the outermost layers of the skin. The treatment is not as deep as with some peels, so the recovery time is minimal.

A medium peel usually involves TCA (tri-chloroacetic acid) of various concentrations. It penetrates the dermis, or deep layer of the skin, to a greater depth than the light peels. The recovery and pain are more significant than the lighter peels. Redness and flaking may persist for several days or weeks.

A deep peel, or phenol peel, penetrates the skin to the deepest extent. As a result, it has the greatest impact on resurfacing the skin, but it also has the longest recovery time, and it can causing scarring and skin lightening.

Chemical peels have been shown to be safe and effective for both light and darker skin types.

Vaginal rejuvenation: Labiaplasty, labioplasty, labia minor reduction, or labial reduction involves surgery of the labia majora or labia minora of the vulva, a part of the female genitalia. It aims to reduce elongated labia, usually as part of a vaginoplasty.

Cosmetic plastic surgery in Iran : Iran is a country where you can find many plastic surgeons who are specialized in most fields of plastic surgery. The Majority of Iranian plastic surgeons are the members of “Iranian Society of Plastic Surgeons”, which is one of the oldest medical societies in the world established in 1956. Moreover, most of them have also the memberships of other inteational medical societies such as the “American Society of Plastic Surgeons” and The “Inteational Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery” (ISAPS).

The great proficiency of Iranian plastic surgeons is because of their many years of training and experience in different fields of plastic surgery. It includes maxillofacial surgery, body contouring surgery, lower body lift, reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgeries. Iranian plastic surgeons have completed specialized fellowships in plastic and reconstructive surgeries at top quality American, European and Iranian universities and hospitals.

If you are hoping to find the best plastic surgeons, you should pay Iran a visit and look for them. The plastic surgeons in Iran are the best and they operate plastic surgeries of all types such as a nose job in the prices that can be easily afforded. How to look beautiful

Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty): Abdominoplasty, more commonly known as a ‘tummy tuck’, is used to improve the shape of the abdomen. Tummy tucks remove excess fat and skin and restore weakened or separated muscles in the abdomen in order to improve the profile. Tummy tucks can improve the appearance of loose or sagging skin, but cannot remove stretch marks.

A tummy tuck is not a replacement for an exercise routine or eating right for weight loss. The results of a tummy tuck are permanent, but maintaining a proper weight is critical to maintain the results.

Fat injection (fat grafting): Fat injections and fat grafting have broad applications in cosmetic surgery.

The patient’s own fat is collected from one part of the body using liposuction, and it is injected into areas requiring volume enhancement. It is usually applied to the face, including the lips, the hands, and depressions in skin contour.

The results are generally safe and long lasting, and it can have the additional benefit of removing fat from a place where it is not wanted. The fat is removed, washed, and purified and then carefully re-injected with specially designed needles. Sometimes the procedure needs to be repeated several times for best results.

Stem-cell enriched fat grafts have been trialed for reconstructive surgery, with promising results, suggesting that the procedure is reliable, safe, and effective.

Botox injections : Botulinum toxin, or botox, is the brand name of a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum (C. botulinum), first approved by the FDA in the 1980s for muscle spasm.

A range of cosmetic surgery procedures aim to improve appearance.

It is used to treat wrinkles and facial creases. It acts by blocking the signal from nerves to the muscles that are injected. The injected muscle can no longer contract, or tighten, as forcefully as before, and this leads to a controlled relaxation of the muscles.

It is approved for treatment of frown lines on the forehead, crow’s feet, or lines around the eye, and axillary hyperhydrosis, or increased sweating of the armpits.

Apart from “botox,” several other brand names of botulinum toxin are now commercially available.

Lea more about plastic surgery procedures

Ear surgery (otoplasty): Otoplasty, or ear surgery, treats prominent or misshapen ears by surgically “pinning” the ear closer to the head with sutures, reshaping the cartilage, or both.

One or both ears may be treated. It is most commonly performed in children after of 5 or 6 years as the ears have essentially reached adult size by that age.

Lip filler injections (facial rejuvenation): Lip augmentation aims to give the patient fuller-looking lips. Usually, injectable dermal fillers are used to increase lip volume, shape, or structure.

Lip augmentation is not permanent. The effects tend to last around 6 months to 1 year before a second procedure is necessary to restore shape and volume.

Liposuction (lipoplasty): Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that improves the shape of the body by removing fat deposits. This procedure is not intended for weight loss.

Localized fat deposits are removed directly beneath the skin by using a vacuum-suction canula, a pen-shaped instrument. Ultrasound may also be used to break up fat deposits prior to removal with suction.

Liposuction can be performed on the arms, thighs, stomach, hips, face, buttocks, and back. Liposuction can also remove fat tumors (lipomas) as well as reduce the size of breasts in men. This procedure can be used on more than one area in a single day.

The most famous plastic surgery procedures

Rhinoplasty (Nose job):

Rhinoplasty refers to any surgery that repairs or reshapes the nose. Some people opt for rhinoplasty for cosmetic reasons. Others may have a medical reason, such as difficulty breathing or birth defects.

Rhinoplasty can be used to:

  • Increase or reduce the size of the nose
  • Correct problems following an injury
  • Correct birth defects
  • Relieve or improve breathing problems
  • Narrow the shape of the nostrils
  • Change the shape of the bridge
  • Change the angle of the nose

Hair transplantation:

Hair transplantation surgery, also known as hair restoration, is performed to improve the appearance of baldness. In this procedure, hair is moved from an area of thick growth to a bald area.

In a single session, more than a thousand hairs may be moved. Some people may require more than one session. The hairs which are moved are permanent, which means that no long-term care is necessary. Most hair transplants result in successful hair growth after the procedure.

Buttock lift or lower body lift:

Buttock augmentation enhances the appearance of the buttocks by making them larger. The surgeon will either graft fat from another part of the patient’s body using liposuction. This is known as the “Brazilian Butt lift.” Silicone implants may also occasionally be used in the buttocks.

A buttock lift, or lower body lift involves removing excess skin from the hips, buttocks, and thighs in order to tighten and lift them. These procedures are often combined with abdominoplasty in patients who have lost a considerable amount of weight after bariatric, or weight loss, surgery, for example.

Plastic Surgery in Iran

Chin, cheek, or jaw reshaping (facial implants or soft tissue augmentation):  Chin augmentation aims to make the chin more prominent and provide a better balance of facial features. It may be done at the same time as rhinoplasty, depending on the measurements taken before surgery. It can be performed with either a prosthetic implant or through manipulation of the chin bone.

Malar, or cheek, augmentation can make the cheekbones more prominent. The surgeon may place an implant at the top of the cheekbones.

Dermabrasion:  Dermabrasion uses a specialized tool that gently ‘sands’ down the top layer of skin. Once the top layer of skin has been removed, the area heals and new skin replaces the old. The end result is smoother-looking skin.

Dermabrasion is usually used for:

  • Acne scars
  • Age spots
  • Crow’s feet
  • Growths or lesions on the skin
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Wrinkles

Eyelid lift (blepharoplasty):  Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, aims to reshape the eyelids. With age, the skin becomes lax, and there may be drooping or hooding of the upper lids, and bags on the lower lids. Eyelid surgery may be functional, cosmetic, or both. It usually involves removing or repositioning excess skin and fat, and the procedure may reinforce surrounding muscles and tendons.

Surgery can change the shape of the face or tighten the skin.

Facelift (rhytidectomy):  Rhytidectomy, also known as a facelift, aims to surgically remove wrinkles and tighten facial skin in order to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Typically, the incision is placed in front of and behind the ears, extending into the hairline in the temple area. The skin is lifted off the deeper facial tissue, redraped more tightly, and the excess skin is removed. The incisions are then closed with sutures.

The deeper tissues of the face and neck may also be tightened. Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery may be done at the same time.

Facelifts repair sagging, loose, drooping, or wrinkled skin on the face. During this procedure, facial tissues are lifted, excess skin removed, and skin replaced over repositioned contours. Neck lifts are commonly done in conjunction with facelifts.

Other procedures commonly done along with facelifts include nose reshaping, forehead lifts, or eyelid surgery.

plastic surgery procedures

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the most common cosmetic procedures (invasive and minimally-invasive) are listed here by their common or descriptive names. The medical term for the procedure is in parentheses:

Breast augmentation or enlargement (augmentation mammoplasty):

Breast augmentation refers to procedures which increase the size or change the shape of the breasts. When the size of the breast is increased, the procedure may also be called ‘breast implant surgery’. Breast augmentation is not the same as breast lifts or breast reduction, which are actually different types of procedures.

Breast lift (mastopexy) with or without the placement of an implant:

Mastopexy, or a breast lift, involves removing skin and glandular tissue to make the breasts smaller and rearranging the remaining tissue to make the breast appear lifted.

Depending on how much volume a patient has lost or desires, mastopexy can be combined with an implant. While it is similar to a breast reduction, which removes a much greater amount of tissue, mastopexy is not usually covered by major insurance carriers as it is not deemed medically necessary.

Male breast reduction treats gynecomastia, an enlargement of the mammary tissue in men. It may be done by liposuction or with various scar pattes, often hidden around the nipple and areola.
